Beginnings of our distillery

The history of the distillery dates back to 1950, to the embrace of the wonderful nature of primeval forest of Kočevje, in the small village of Obrh near Dolenjske Toplice. Locals have been gathering forest fruits around here for many years, creating delicious delicacies, also using a very important nearby water source of Obrščica.

The spring was also used by distillers, because their distillery is in the immediate vicinity of the spring. Cold water from the spring was used for cooling during distillation and only the raw materials available in the area were distilled. Thus, in the 1950s, a new activity was developed: the production of spruce and fir essential oils.

At the end of the 1990s, the Kenda family decided to bring the most delightful scents and the most intoxicating flavors to one place. They renovated the old and abandoned distillery of the 1950s distillation masters and began making essential oils as well as two sinfully delicious treats – chocolate and alcoholic beverages.
